Syarwan Hamid said that the <br>\nrecently released autobiography of Gen (ret) Sumitro was not a <br>\nproblem for the corps, although it includes controversial <br>\nstatements about other top Armed Forces members and the Malari <br>\nincident, the biggest student demonstration in the New Order era <br>\nwhich occurred in 1974.<\/p>\n<p>Autobiographies which are written by those who have a lot of <br>\nexperiences and play important roles in this republic will be <br>\ngood references for the young generation, so they can learn to <br>\nunderstand the history of this country and have clearer <br>\nperceptions of it. But it is important to remember that facts <br>\nwhich are kept unpublished for 25 years could be read in an <br>\nautobiography or memoir.<\/p>\n<p>We should learn to accept differences prevailing in our <br>\ncommunity, so we needn't overreact in facing such a case.
