Police have begun to uncover clues believed to lie behind the actions\nof an Australian man with the initials SDJ (56), who allegedly killed\nhis two children before taking his own life by hanging. According to\ntestimony from his wife, TY (32), given to police, SDJ suffered from an\nanxiety disorder. He had endured the mental illness for a considerable\ntime, with periodic relapses, but it was never treated medically.<\/p>\n
\u201cFrom the wife\u2019s account, they quarrelled in 2022 and her husband\nsuffered from high levels of anxiety,\u201d said the Chief of the Denpasar\nPolice, Commissioner Leonardo Simatupang, when met at Bali Regional\nPolice Headquarters on Tuesday (15\/9\/2026).<\/p>\n
The couple also nearly divorced in 2022. However, because of her\nhusband\u2019s anxiety, the Indonesian woman ultimately chose not to divorce\nhim, fearing it would trigger a relapse of his condition. His anxiety\nwas so severe that SDJ had threatened to take his own life.<\/p>\n
SDJ even attempted suicide roughly a month before the incident. At\nthe time, the man born in Fremantle, Australia, tried to end his life by\nwrapping an iron\u2019s electrical cord around his neck. The attempt,\nhowever, failed.<\/p>\n
\u201cLast month, his wife reported that her husband had once attempted\nsuicide by locking himself in a room and wrapping a rope, or the iron\u2019s\ncable, around his neck,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
For this reason, the couple, who had been married for more than six\nyears, frequently experienced domestic disharmony. Nevertheless, in the\nperiod leading up to the incident, they had not been involved in any\nquarrels.<\/p>\n
