        "content": "<p>Australian FM in Malaysia for talks<\/p>\n<p>KUALA LUMPUR (AFP): Australia's Foreign Affairs Minister<br>\nGareth Evans arrived here yesterday from Brunei for a four-day<br>\nvisit for talks that officials said would focus on regional<br>\nsecurity as well as bilateral issues.<\/p>\n<p>Evans' visit is the first by a top Australian official<br>\nfollowing a diplomatic row sparked by Australian Premier Paul<br>\nKeating calling his Malaysian counterpart Mahathir Mohamad a<br>\n\"recalcitrant\" for skipping the U.S.-hosted Asia-Pacific Economic<br>\nCooperation (APEC) summit in Seattle in November 1993.<\/p>\n<p>Describing Malaysia as \"an old friend\" of Australia, Evans<br>\nsaid on his arrival here that the visit would strengthen<br>\nbilateral ties.<\/p>\n<p>\"Our relationship is very smooth, very relaxed and comfortable<br>\nat the moment and no bumps and no grouses,\" he said, after being<br>\nreceived at the airport by Malaysia's Foreign Minister Abdullah<br>\nAhmad Badawi.<\/p>\n<p>Bilateral ties were smoothed out after a meeting between<br>\nKeating and Mahathir at the second APEC meeting in Indonesia last<br>\nNovember.<\/p>",
