        "content": "<p>Australian firm may invest in Bogasari<\/p>\n<p>MELBOURNE (Bloomberg): AWB Ltd., the monopoly exporter of<br>\nAustralian wheat, is interested in investing in PT Bogasari Flour<br>\nMills, Indonesia's largest flour miller, Chairman Trevor Flugge<br>\nsaid.<\/p>\n<p>\"It is of some interest,\" Flugge said of the chance to invest<br>\nin Bogasari, which is majority owned by PT Indofood Sukses<br>\nMakmur.<\/p>\n<p>\"We've had discussions\" about taking a stake in Bogasari, he<br>\nsaid, but no action has been taken. Flugge added that he was<br>\nstill not certain what if any parts of Bogasari are for sale, or<br>\nwhat type of investment AWB might make there.<\/p>\n<p>Indonesia is the second largest customer for Australia wheat<br>\nafter Iran. In the year ending Sept. 30, 1997, Indonesia bought<br>\nalmost 2.4 million metric tons of wheat.<\/p>\n<p>AWB Ltd., formerly known as the Australian Wheat Board,<br>\nalready has joint venture stakes in flour mills in Egypt and<br>\nVietnam, which serve as important \"listening posts\" for those<br>\nmarkets, Flugge said.<\/p>\n<p>Trade with Indonesia, which almost came to a halt earlier this<br>\nyear as the Indonesian rupiah plunged to an all-time low when the<br>\ncountry sank into economic and political chaos, is slowly<br>\nreturning to normal, Flugge said.<\/p>\n<p>\"There is a commercial trade still going on in Indonesia,\" he<br>\nsaid. \"That commercial trade, we believe, will probably return to<br>\nnormal within a relatively short time. That might be 12<br>\nmonths ... there's certainly even indications now that it could<br>\nbe even soon than that.\"<\/p>",
