Denpasar (ANTARA) - The Australian Consul General in Bali has\nemphasised the importance of educational cooperation with Indonesia as\nan effort to maintain the bilateral relationship between the two\nnations.<\/p>\n
\u201cPeople-to-people ties are the foundation of the closeness between\nIndonesia and Australia, including in the field of education,\u201d said\nAustralian Consul General Jo Stevens during a visit to the National\nUniversity of Education (Undikmas) in Denpasar, Bali, on Wednesday.<\/p>\n
He noted that there are 25,000 Indonesian citizens pursuing education\nin the \u2018Land of Kangaroos\u2019 as of 2025, alongside many Australian\nstudents visiting Indonesia through the New Colombo Plan.<\/p>\n
During a public lecture to Undikmas students, the senior diplomat\nhighlighted the strong and lasting personal bonds between the people of\nboth countries.<\/p>\n
He also outlined the close bilateral relationship between Australia\nand Indonesia as neighbouring and friendly nations.<\/p>\n
On the other hand, he continued, both countries face similar\nchallenges, namely climate change and regional stability.<\/p>\n
\u201cClose cooperation will help us in facing these challenges,\u201d he\nsaid.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, to support educational cooperation, his office established\nthe \u2018Aussie Banget\u2019 (ABC) corner in three campuses in Bali, including\nUndikmas, which has been operational since 2022 and has now been renewed\nfor the 2026-2028 period.<\/p>\n
