Australian ambassador visits Aceh<\/p>\n
BANDA ACEH, Aceh: Australian Ambassador to Indonesia Richard
\nSmith arrived here on Monday for a two-day visit.<\/p>\n
Immediately after his arrival in Banda Aceh, he was whisked to
\nthe official residence of Aceh Governor Abdullah Puteh on Jl.
\nSultan Mughayatsyah, where they held a closed-door meeting for
\nmore than one hour.<\/p>\n
There was no official announcement on the topics discussed in
\nthe meeting, but according to sources, Smith inquired about the
\nongoing conflict in war-torn Aceh.<\/p>\n
Before meeting with Puteh, Smith met with Aceh Provincial
\nCouncil Chairman Muhammad Yus, who informed him that the security
\nsituation in Aceh was improving.<\/p>\n
Smith also reportedly met with editors of Serambi Indonesia
\ndaily, the largest daily in Aceh, on Monday, in order to learn
\nmore about Aceh's actual security and political situation.<\/p>\n
Aceh administration public relations chief Pungi Arianto said
\nSmith would meet with the Iskandar Muda military commander Brig.
\nGen. Djali Yusuf and head of the Syiah Kuala University on
