Australia warns of terror attack in RI<\/p>\n
AUSTRALIA: Australia on Monday issued an updated travel warning
\nfor Indonesia, warning of the possibility of a terror attack
\nduring the Christmas and New Year holiday period.<\/p>\n
The advisory urged Australians against traveling to Indonesia,
\nincluding the resort island of Bali, "due to the very high threat
\nof terrorist attack."<\/p>\n
"We continue to receive a stream of reporting indicating that
\nterrorists are in the advanced stages of planning attacks against
\nWestern interests in Indonesia against a range of targets,
\nincluding places frequented by foreigners," it says.<\/p>\n
"Recent reports suggest that terrorists have been planning
\nattacks against Westerners over the Christmas\/New Year period.
\nThese attacks could be targeted at places where Westerners gather
\nsuch as churches."<\/p>\n
Four Australians were among those killed in the Oct. 1
\nbombings of popular Bali restaurants. The suicide blasts occurred
\nalmost three years to the day after 202 people, including 88
\nAustralians, were killed in car bombings outside a Bali nightclub
\nstrip.<\/p>\n
The Australian embassy in Jakarta was targeted by a suicide
\nbomber in September 2004.<\/p>\n
"Further terrorist attacks cannot be ruled out and could occur
\nat any time, anywhere in Indonesia," the advisory says. --AFP<\/p>",
