        "content": "<p>Australia urged to reconsider trip to RI due to kidnap threat<\/p>\n<p>The government urged Australians on Wednesday to reconsider their<br>\nneed to travel to Indonesia in light of warnings that terrorists<br>\nare planning to kidnap foreigners.<\/p>\n<p>Indonesian authorities warned on Tuesday that terrorists are<br>\nplotting to kidnap high-ranking officials, including foreigners<br>\n-- apparently shifting away from suicide bombings.<\/p>\n<p>The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade referred to the<br>\nwarning on Wednesday in its latest travel advise warning against<br>\nvisiting the near neighbor over the Christmas and New Year<br>\nperiod.<\/p>\n<p>\"We advise you to reconsider your need to travel to Indonesia,<br>\nincluding Bali, at this time due to the very high threat of<br>\nterrorist attack,\" the department said on its website.<\/p>\n<p>\"Indonesian authorities warned publicly that terrorists in<br>\nIndonesia may be planning to kidnap foreigners, including over<br>\nthe Christmas\/New Year period,\" it added.<\/p>\n<p>The department has long advised Australians to defer<br>\nnonessential travel to Indonesia due to the threat of terrorist<br>\nattack.<\/p>\n<p>But Jakarta's new ambassador to Australia, Hamzah Thayeb, said<br>\nAustralians should not to turn their backs on Indonesia as a<br>\nvacation destination.<\/p>\n<p>\"Nobody can be certain what will happen,\" he said. \"Our<br>\nconcern would be if nobody was coming to Indonesia.\" -- AP<\/p>",
