        "content": "<p>Australia returns boatpeople to RI<\/p>\n<p>CANBERRA: The Australian navy has escorted a boatload of<br>\nsuspected Kurdish asylum seekers who made it as far as a northern<br>\nAustralian island back to Indonesia, where they are being held by<br>\nlocal police, the Australian government said on Sunday.<\/p>\n<p>Following talks with Jakarta officials, Australian immigration<br>\nminister Amanda Vanstone said the boat was escorted to the edge<br>\nof Indonesian waters before making its own way to the Indonesian<br>\nisland of Yamdena.<\/p>\n<p>\"They are safe, they are in Indonesia, the IOM (International<br>\nOrganization for Migration) is there,\" Vanstone said on<br>\ntelevision as quoted by Agence France-Presse.<\/p>\n<p>\"They are in the care of the local police,\" she said.<\/p>\n<p>However, Indonesian National Police director for transnational<br>\ncrimes, Brig. Gen.
