        "content": "<p>Australia lures more RI students<\/p>\n<p>JAKARTA: Australia opened here on Saturday a two-day education <br>\nexhibition involving 72 Australian schools, universities and <br>\neducation bodies.<\/p>\n<p>Ambassador Richard Smith said the exhibition was aimed at <br>\nluring more Indonesians to study in Australia.<\/p>\n<p>He said Indonesians formed one of the largest groups of Asian <br>\nstudents in Australia with a total of 18,000 students.<\/p>\n<p>Ministry of National Education&apos;s Higher Research Director Dodi <br>\nNandika said before opening the exhibition that Indonesia and <br>\nAustralia had agreed to boost education cooperation.<\/p>\n<p>&quot;The exhibition reflected the increased educational ties which <br>\nhad already been running well for the past 20 years,&quot; Dodi said. <br>\n-- Antara<\/p>\n<p>20 RI maids seek protection<\/p>\n<p>SINGAPORE: At least 20 Indonesian maids are currently seeking <br>\nsanctuary at the Indonesian embassy in Singapore after their <br>\nSingaporean employees either beat them or raped them.<\/p>\n<p>&quot;Of the 20 maids seeking refuge at the Indonesian embassy, two <br>\nwere raped by their employees,&quot; said Hussien Abu, labor official <br>\nat the Indonesian embassy in Singapore.<\/p>\n<p>He said Singaporean authorities were now investigating the <br>\nalleged rapes.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, third secretary Kartika Prawati Rum Surjani told <br>\nAntara on Saturday that at least 65 Indonesian maids died between <br>\nJanuary 1999 and April 2002. Some of them fell from their <br>\napartments or committed suicide.<\/p>\n<p>There are currently 450,000 foreign workers in Singapore, of <br>\nwhich 60,000 are Indonesian maids who get paid between S$230 and <br>\n$600 per month. -- Antara<\/p>\n<p>SwPD moves to expand cooperation<\/p>\n<p>DENPASAR, Bali: Members of the Southwest Pacific Dialogue <br>\n(SwPD) agreed on Saturday to boost and expand cooperation and <br>\nexchange information during its first senior official meeting.<\/p>\n<p>Foreign Affairs Minister Hassan Wirayuda said member countries <br>\nagreed to focus on cooperation in the field of economics, trade, <br>\ninvestment, and technical assistance.<\/p>\n<p>&quot;These have been the subjects of discourse among members of <br>\nthe Southwest Pacific Dialogue in the past two years, and now we <br>\nare now realizing them as Indonesian has been focusing on Asia in <br>\nthe past 30 years,&quot; Hassan was quoted by Antara as saying.<\/p>\n<p>The SwPD, established in 2000, has members consisting of <br>\nIndonesia, Philippines, East Timor, Australia, New Zealand, and <br>\nPapua New Guinea.<\/p>\n<p>According to Hassan, the Bali meeting played a strategic role <br>\nin the development and future of countries in the Southwest <br>\nPacific as &quot;it defines future steps taken to boost interactions <br>\nand cooperation among countries in the region&quot;. -- Antara<\/p>",
