        "content": "<p>Australia aids exports to RI<\/p>\n<p>CANBERRA (Dow Jones): Australian Deputy Prime Minister and<br>\nTrade Minister Tim Fischer said Monday that the government has<br>\nextended credit insurance facilities for exports to Indonesia and<br>\nKorea by a further four months to July.<\/p>\n<p>\"This decision will help Australian exporters to maintain<br>\ntrade with Asia in difficult times and to consolidate market<br>\nshare in these two countries,\" he said in a statement.<\/p>\n<p>The facilities are provided through the government's Export<br>\nFinance &amp; Insurance Corp., or EFIC, and were put in place during<br>\n1998. EFIC provides credit insurance for Australian exporters<br>\nagainst default by overseas buyers. The insurance coverage is<br>\nprovided by EFIC either on commercial terms or in exceptional<br>\ncircumstances where the government will cover exporters on its<br>\nso-called national interest account.<\/p>\n<p>In 1998, EFIC made available a A$500 million short-term credit<br>\ninsurance facility for exports to South Korea on the national<br>\ninterest account, and provided A$500 million and A$380 million<br>\nrespectively for wheat and cotton exports to Indonesia.<\/p>\n<p>The trade minister also said that credit insurance<br>\narrangements for exports to Indonesia will continue to be<br>\nprovided on a case-by-case basis.<\/p>",
