        "content": "<p>Aussie dairy firm helps nutrition drive<\/p>\n<p>JAKARTA (JP): The Australian Dairy Corporation (ADC), a<br>\nVictoria-based marketing authority, in cooperation with the city<br>\nadministration will launch a good nutrition campaign for primary<br>\nschool children in Jakarta.<\/p>\n<p>The campaign, scheduled to start next month, is aimed at<br>\nbolstering awareness on nutritious eating for children aged<br>\nbetween six and 12.<\/p>\n<p>&quot;Through this campaign, I hope we will be able to reduce the<br>\nnumber of children who suffer from malnutrition,&quot; Soenarjudardji,<br>\nan assistant to the city&apos;s welfare affairs secretary, said<br>\nyesterday.<\/p>\n<p>The good nutrition program will be conducted in 1,500 primary<br>\nschools in Jakarta, including private, public and Islamic<br>\nschools.<\/p>\n<p>&quot;We will distribute 1,500 explanatory books about nutrition to<br>\nsports teachers, exercise kits for students and 5,000 posters to<br>\neach primary school in the city,&quot; Nick Watson, an ADC<br>\nrepresentatives, said.<\/p>\n<p>&quot;Under the six-week campaign, the children are expected to<br>\nexperience an interactive learning process about nutrition, where<br>\nthey can learn while they play simulation games and do little<br>\nexercises.&quot;<\/p>\n<p>The campaign is designed to be as simple as possible so<br>\nchildren can understand.<\/p>\n<p>&quot;After we complete the six-week lessons, we will evaluate the<br>\nprogram and consolidate all suggestions,&quot; Watson said.<\/p>\n<p>The good nutrition campaign is a pilot project aimed at<br>\nheightening students&apos; awareness about eating nutritious food.<\/p>\n<p>&quot;If the campaign works, we will start in other parts of<br>\nIndonesia,&quot; he said.<\/p>\n<p>City Councilor Nitra Arsyad of Commission E for welfare<br>\naffairs told The Jakarta Post that the campaign is part of the<br>\nmunicipality&apos;s program to increase the consumption of healthy<br>\nfood among children and their parents.<\/p>\n<p>&quot;There are 11 poor subdistrict areas in Jakarta that have<br>\nroutinely received the municipality&apos;s support to increase the<br>\nquality of children&apos;s food.<\/p>\n<p>&quot;Galur subdistrict in Central Jakarta, for example, received<br>\nRp 87 million (US$32,830) from this year&apos; city budget, while<br>\neight poor subdistricts in North Jakarta got about Rp 533.41<br>\nmillion and two other poor subdistricts in West Jakarta received<br>\nRp 375 million,&quot; Nitra said.<\/p>\n<p>&quot;With the current monetary crisis, it&apos;s nice to get help from<br>\na neighboring country, such as Australia, to reduce malnutrition<br>\nin the city,&quot; he said. &quot;I wish the ADC and the municipality&apos;s<br>\ncampaign success.&quot;<\/p>\n<p>Why is the campaign aimed at children aged between six and 12?<\/p>\n<p>&quot;Because it is the common age for primary students here,&quot;<br>\nChadd McLisky, a representative of Indo Pacific, a consultant for<br>\nADC in Indonesia, said.<\/p>\n<p>The six-year-olds are beginning a new life of learning and<br>\nstarting to take on all the world has to offer, while 12-year-<br>\nolds are coming to the end of the first stage of their education,<br>\nhe said.<\/p>\n<p>But pretty soon they will be &quot;new kids&quot; again when they are<br>\nexposed to very different challenges at secondary school, he<br>\nsaid.<\/p>\n<p>&quot;The quantity of food required is relative to their respective<br>\nsizes and activity,&quot; Watson said. &quot;So it is important for<br>\nchildren to have a balanced nutritious diet.&quot; (07)<\/p>",
