        "content": "<p>Auction aims to help children's education<\/p>\n<p>The economic and political crisis that has hit the country has<br>\nalso affected the lives of children, especially the poor. The<br>\nincreasing number of children dropping out of school has<br>\nhighlighted the crisis.<\/p>\n<p>Many parties have tried many ways to raise money to overcome<br>\nthe problem but it has not been enough.<\/p>\n<p>The City House Auction is staging Love HeArt, Charity for the<br>\nChildren in its attempts to help the less-fortunate. Part of the<br>\nmoney raised from the auction will be given to the National<br>\nFoster Parents Movement (GNOTA) and the Shekinah Stress and Drugs<br>\nRehabilitation Center, according to the press release.<\/p>\n<p>The 120 oil, acrylic, mixed media, pastel and watercolor<br>\npaintings, selected by a board of experts, will be displayed at<br>\nthe Menara Citibank in Pondok Indah, South Jakarta, on Thursday<br>\nand Friday to give art lovers and collectors time to view the<br>\nworks before this weekend's auction.<\/p>\n<p>Among the paintings are works from the late Sudjana Kerton,<br>\nPopo Iskandar, S. Abdullah and Willem Gehard Hofker. Other noted<br>\npainters, who were forgotten but their works still amaze art<br>\nlovers, are Atmadi Asa (Tan Liep Poen) and Tarmizi.<\/p>\n<p>Younger painters -- including H. Widayat, Jeihan, Djoko Pekik,<br>\nI Made Djirna, Made Sukadana and Suwaji -- are also among artists<br>\nwhose works will be auctioned.<\/p>\n<p>However, the organizers have promised that it would not be<br>\njust an ordinary auction. Also included are works from the<br>\nprivate collection of Indonesia's first president, Sukarno,<br>\nhimself an art lover and artist, including a painting by Ernest<br>\nDezenje.<\/p>\n<p>Paintings among former vice president Adam Malik's collection<br>\nwill also be auctioned, including Ballerina by K. Hou Gard and<br>\nPenari Balet (Ballerina) by Frezesil.<\/p>\n<p>The Adam Malik Museum collection of Layang-layang (Kites) by<br>\nBagong Kussudiardjo, Penabuh Gendang (Drummer) and Kuda Lumping<br>\nby Batara Lubis are also being offered for sale.<\/p>\n<p>The auction itself will take place on Saturday and Sunday at<br>\nthe same venue as the exhibition and will be led by Tantowi<br>\nYahya, a noted TV presenter. -- JP<\/p>",
