Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Attorney General\u2019s Office has handed over 11\nsuspects involved in the alleged corruption of crude palm oil (CPO)\nexports and its derivatives for the 2022\u20132024 period to the Public\nProsecutor of the East Jakarta District Attorney\u2019s Office on Monday. The\nscheme involved disguising CPO as palm oil mill effluent (POME).<\/p>\n
\u201cThe investigators from the Junior Attorney General for Special\nCrimes (Jampisus) carried out the handover of suspects and evidence\n(Phase II) to the Public Prosecutor Team of the East Jakarta District\nAttorney\u2019s Office on Monday, 8 June 2026,\u201d said the Acting Head of the\nAttorney General\u2019s Office Legal Information Centre, Mochammad Jeffry, in\na statement in Jakarta.<\/p>\n
Jeffry stated that the eleven suspects consist of three civil\nservants (ASN) and eight individuals from the private sector. The civil\nservants include LBH, an official at the Ministry of Industry; FJR, an\nofficial at the Directorate General of Customs and Excise (DJBC); and\nMZ, an official at the Pekanbaru Customs Office.<\/p>\n
The eight private sector suspects include directors and executives\nfrom various companies, including PT SMP, PT SMA, PT SMS, PT BMM, PT AP,\nPT TAJ, PT TEO, PT Green Product International, PT Surya Inti\nPrimakarya, PT CKK, PT MAS, and PT SBP.<\/p>\n
The case occurred between 2020 and 2024, during a period when the\ngovernment implemented CPO export restrictions and controls to maintain\ndomestic cooking oil availability and price stability. These policies\nwere enforced through the Domestic Market Obligation (DMO) mechanism,\nexport permit requirements, and the imposition of export duties and palm\noil levies.<\/p>\n
Under this policy framework, CPO is classified as a strategic\nnational commodity under HS Code 1511, regardless of Free Fatty Acid\n(FFA) levels. Consequently, all forms of CPO, including high-acid CPO,\nare subject to export restrictions and national obligations. However,\ninvestigators discovered deviations in the form of manipulated export\ncommodity classifications. High-acid CPO was intentionally claimed and\ntreated as Palm Oil Mill Effluent (POME) or Palm Acid Oil (PAO) using HS\nCode 2306, which is intended for residues or solid waste.<\/p>\n
The suspects are alleged to have not only been aware of the\napplicable laws but also actively participated in creating and\nmaintaining this fraudulent mechanism. Based on the Financial Loss\nCalculation Report by the Audit Board of Indonesia (BPKP), the case has\nresulted in significant state financial losses.<\/p>\n
In this case, investigators have seized Rp40 billion in cash, as well\nas assets including land, buildings, palm oil plantations, and vehicles\nvalued at approximately Rp696.5 billion. The suspects are charged with\nviolating various articles of the Criminal Code and the Law on the\nEradication of Corruption Crimes.<\/p>\n
