        "content": "<p>Jakarta - Dozens of locations in Riau and Medan have been raided\nagain in connection with an investigation into the alleged smuggling of\ncrude palm oil (Crude Palm Oil\/CPO) disguised as Palm Oil Mill Effluent\n(POME) throughout the period from 2022 to 2024.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOver the past two weeks or so, we have conducted raids on dozens of\nlocations in Riau and Medan,\u201d said Syarief Sulaeman Nahdi, Director of\nInvestigation at the Attorney General\u2019s Special Crimes Division\n(Jampidsus), on Monday, 2 March 2026.<\/p>\n<p>He stated that investigators are currently in the process of seizing\nassets belonging to the suspects that have been secured during the\nraids.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAmong them are several land parcels and also palm oil mills (PKS),\nand we are currently processing the seizure of these assets. There are\nalso heavy machinery, vehicles, and other items,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>The raids, he noted, are still ongoing in Riau and Medan. There,\ninvestigators are also questioning a number of witnesses.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are not bringing witnesses to the Attorney General\u2019s headquarters\nin Jakarta, but rather questioning them on-site because we are\nconducting direct raids and we need to work quickly so that many pieces\nof evidence do not go missing,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>The investigation into the alleged manipulation of palm oil exports\nhas implicated a number of high-profile individuals. The Attorney\nGeneral\u2019s Office has designated 11 individuals as suspects in the case\nof crude palm oil (CPO) exports disguised as Palm Oil Mill Effluent\n(POME) throughout the period from 2022 to 2024.<\/p>\n<p>The suspects come from various sectors, ranging from officials at the\nDirectorate General of Customs and Excise and the Ministry of Industry,\nto the board of directors of private companies. They are suspected of\nbeing involved in the practice of manipulating harmonised system (HS)\ncodes to evade export fee obligations.<\/p>\n<p>One of the suspects charged is FJR, the former Director of Customs\nAffairs at the Directorate General of Customs and Excise who now serves\nas Head of the Customs Office for Bali, West Nusa Tenggara, and East\nNusa Tenggara. Additionally, investigators have also charged LHB, who\nserves as Head of the Sub-Division for Non-Food Plantation Products\nIndustry and Senior Policy Analyst and Functional Advisor for Industry\nDevelopment at the Ministry of Industry\u2019s Directorate of Forest Products\nIndustry.<\/p>",
