Jakarta (ANTARA) - Attorney General ST Burhanuddin has affirmed that\nhe does not merely need clever prosecutors, but more importantly\nrequires prosecutors who possess integrity in carrying out their\nduties.<\/p>\n
\u201cI always say, I need clever prosecutors, but I need prosecutors with\nintegrity even more. What is the use of having clever prosecutors\nwithout integrity? They should leave this prosecution service,\u201d he said\nwhen met at the Main Building of the Attorney General\u2019s Office in\nJakarta on Wednesday.<\/p>\n
The Indonesian Prosecution Service, he said, can serve as a place for\nprosecutors to build their careers. In doing so, he stressed that\nprosecutors must prioritise integrity. Should they lack integrity, he\nwould not hesitate to dismiss the prosecutors in question.<\/p>\n
\u201cIf you want to build a career, this is the place, and those without\nintegrity should please step down rather than have me dismiss them.\nRather than me ordering them to step down, it would be better if they\nleft voluntarily. What I primarily need are prosecutors who are both\nclever and possess integrity,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Furthermore, Burhanuddin also urged members of the media and the\npublic to report to the Attorney General\u2019s Office should they encounter\nprosecutors who commit violations.<\/p>\n
He acknowledged that the prosecution service\u2019s supervisory division\nhas its limitations. Therefore, information from the media and the\npublic would help address rogue prosecutors.<\/p>\n
