Attorney General ST Burhanuddin has apologised to the public over the
legal case ensnaring former Junior Attorney General for Special Crimes
(Jampidsus) Febrie Adriansyah. He stressed that the incident serves as a
major evaluation for the Attorney General’s Office to strengthen its
internal supervision and control systems. ‘As the leader, I apologise
for this incident. Let the legal facts prove it later. But for us, this
is a lesson and a moment to improve ourselves,’ Burhanuddin told
reporters on Sunday, 26 July 2026. Burhanuddin acknowledged that the
case is a severe test for the Attorney General’s Office and all
prosecution offices across Indonesia. Nevertheless, he urged all
Adhyaksa personnel not to become mired in the situation and to remain
focused on carrying out law enforcement duties. According to him, the
case must serve as an impetus to enhance performance while meeting the
public’s expectations for just law enforcement. ‘We are going through
this trial and test. Make this moment one to fulfil the people’s hopes,
deliver justice, investigate, and resolve the handling of corruption
cases,’ he said. Burhanuddin also recognised that some public doubt has
emerged regarding the handling of the case involving Febrie Adriansyah.
Nonetheless, he assured that the legal process will proceed openly,
professionally, and fairly until the case is concluded. ‘Give us time to
resolve this incident thoroughly,’ Burhanuddin said. For context, the
Attorney General’s Office has named former Jampidsus Febrie Adriansyah
as a suspect in alleged corruption and money laundering (TPPU) cases.
Febrie has been officially detained at the Corruption Eradication
Commission (KPK) detention centre since Friday, 24 July 2026. In the
alleged corruption case, Febrie is implicated in three matters: the
alleged corruption at PT Asabri, the settlement of debts by a subsidiary
of PT Krakatau Steel, and the alleged corruption in coal supply to a
steam power plant (PLTU). Additionally, the Attorney General’s Office
has issued a new Investigation Order (Sprindik) to probe the alleged
money laundering. The investigation was launched after a special team
received evidence in the form of gold and foreign currency handed over
by the National Police’s Corruption Crime Corps (Kortas Tipidkor).
",
