Jakarta, VIVA \u2013 Indonesian Foreign Minister Sugiono undertook a\nworking visit to New York, United States, from 16\u201318 February 2026 to\nattend a United Nations Security Council (UNSC) meeting.<\/p>\n
The meeting addressed the situation in the Middle East, including the\nquestion of Palestine.<\/p>\n
Sugiono\u2019s presence at the forum also reaffirmed Indonesia\u2019s\ncommitment to playing an active role in peace and humanitarian efforts,\nincluding the reconstruction and recovery of Gaza.<\/p>\n
Beyond that, Sugiono also spoke about Indonesia\u2019s participation in\nthe Board of Peace.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis represents the consistency of our independent and active\nforeign policy in supporting just and sustainable peace, in accordance\nwith the Two-State Solution, as well as genuine solidarity with the\nPalestinian people,\u201d according to a statement quoted from the official\nMinistry of Foreign Affairs website on Tuesday, 17 February 2026.<\/p>\n
Sugiono was also scheduled to hold meetings with the UN\nSecretary-General and Palestine\u2019s Permanent Representative to the UN to\ndiscuss future steps in advancing peace in Palestine, including\nextending an invitation to attend the D-8 Summit to be held in April\n2026 in Jakarta.<\/p>\n
