        "content": "<p>Asylum-seekers return to Pakistan<\/p>\n<p>JAKARTA: A group of Pakistanis flew home from Indonesia on<br>\nTuesday after abandoning hope of starting a new life in<br>\nAustralia.<\/p>\n<p>The 19 adults and two children left Jakarta for Karachi aboard<br>\nan international air carrier, the International Organization for<br>\nMigration (IOM) said in a statement.<\/p>\n<p>The Pakistanis were escorted by an IOM official, the statement<br>\nsaid, adding that they were the largest group of Pakistanis being<br>\nsent home from Indonesia this year.<\/p>\n<p>A total of 244 Afghans and 47 Pakistanis have voluntarily left<br>\nIndonesia since the beginning of the IOM-sponsored repatriation<br>\nin May.<\/p>\n<p>Afghanis and Pakistanis were among thousands of asylum-seekers<br>\nfrom the Middle East and parts of South Asia who became stuck in<br>\nIndonesia as a result of aborted sea voyages to Australia<br>\narranged by people-smugglers.<\/p>\n<p>Australia has launched a tough campaign to prevent refugee-<br>\nladen boats from reaching its shores.<\/p>\n<p>The unguarded shores and largely unpatrolled waters of the<br>\nIndonesian archipelago have made it a popular stepping-stone for<br>\nasylum-seekers trying to reach Australia by boat. --AFP<\/p>",
