Cirebon — Astra Tol Cipali, operator of the Cikopo-Palimanan (Cipali)
toll road in West Java, recorded vehicle traffic up 19.9 per cent on 13
March 2026 ahead of the Eid holiday exodus.

“Overall, current traffic volume is up 19.9 per cent compared to the
same hour yesterday,” said Ardam Rafif Trisilo, Sustainability
Management & Corporate Communications Department Head of Astra Tol
Cipali, in a statement in Cirebon on Friday.

He explained the vehicle volume increase on the Cipali toll road was
monitored based on traffic data from 00:00 to 15:00 Western Indonesian
Time.

Ardam noted that during this period, approximately 18,800 vehicles
passed through the Cikopo toll gate heading towards Cirebon. Conversely,
approximately 13,700 vehicles passed through Cikopo heading towards
Jakarta during the same period.

“Nevertheless, traffic conditions on the Cipali toll road on Friday
afternoon remained smooth,” he said.

The company predicted vehicle volume would continue to rise as public
mobility increased for holiday travel via the toll route.

He also announced that based on a Joint Decision Letter from four
government agencies, restrictions on freight transport with three or
more axles have been implemented from today at 12:00 Western Indonesian
Time until 29 March 2026 at 24:00 Western Indonesian Time.

“We continue to coordinate with police and relevant stakeholders to
ensure smooth traffic flow during the 2026 Eid holiday period,” he
said.

The toll operator urged road users to ensure their vehicles were in
good condition, maintain safe distances while driving, and ensure their
electronic toll card balance was sufficient before entering the toll
road.

Meanwhile, Cirebon Metro Police Chief Brigadier General Imara Utama
said 11 security posts have been established at strategic locations to
support service to holiday travellers. These posts include service
points, security checkpoints, and one integrated post at kilometre 188
in collaboration with the National Police Traffic Corps and other
relevant agencies.

The peak of the holiday exodus, he continued, is expected to occur in
stages across several waves, with initial estimates beginning on 14
March 2026.

However, authorities continued to monitor traffic conditions on both
arterial routes and toll roads before implementing specific traffic
management measures. “Traffic engineering measures such as one-way
systems on toll roads are under the authority of the National Police
Traffic Corps, so we are waiting for guidance from leadership based on
the volume of vehicles passing,” he said.
",
