Aster denies bankruptcy report<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): Taira Faisal & Panggabean law firm denied on
\nThursday that its client PT Aster Dharma Industri was declared
\nbankrupt by the Supreme Court.<\/p>\n
"As of Aug. 26, the Supreme Court has not officially issued a
\nverdict declaring PT Aster Dharma bankrupt," the law firm said in
\na statement responding to a report in The Jakarta Post on
\nThursday.<\/p>\n
Quoting a court source, the article said the Supreme Court
\ndeclared Aster bankrupt, overruling the decision on the listed
\ncompany made by the Jakarta Commercial Court.<\/p>\n
The law firm said the bankruptcy decision against his client
\nwould have to await the Supreme Court's official pronouncement.<\/p>\n
The Singapore-based Overseas-Chinese Banking Corporation
\nLimited and Industrial & Commercial Bank Limited filed a
\nbankruptcy suit against the plastic packaging company in the
\nJakarta Commercial Court in May.<\/p>\n
The plaintiffs appealed to the Supreme Court after the
\ncommercial court turned down its bankruptcy petition which
\nstemmed from failure to guaranty a debt of a subsidiary. (udi)<\/p>",
