Associations to sponsor futures trading bourse<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): Two local commodity associations will sponsor
\nthe establishment of Indonesia's futures trading bourse, an
\nofficial said yesterday.<\/p>\n
Chairman of the Indonesian Commodity Exchange Agency Arifin
\nLumban Gaol said yesterday that the two are the Association of
\nIndonesian Coffee Exporters and the Indonesian Edible Oil
\nAssociation.<\/p>\n
"They are currently preparing business plans for the
\nestablishment of the bourse," Gaol was quoted by Antara as
\nsaying.<\/p>\n
He noted that the government welcomes the participation of
\nother related commodity associations in sponsoring the
\nestablishment of the bourse as it will be a multicommodity
\nmarket.<\/p>\n
After such a futures market is established, the Indonesian
\nCommodity Exchange Agency will then provide rulings and guarantee
\na fair trading mechanism.<\/p>\n
Gaol said that Minister of Trade and Industry Tunky Ariwibowo
\ninstructed him to continue efforts for the establishment of the
\nfutures commodity exchange.<\/p>\n
He said the existence of such a commodity exchange will
\nbenefit producers, exporters and manufacturers. By using and
\ntrading futures contracts, they can reduce the risks of commodity
\nprice fluctuations.<\/p>\n
The commodity exchange currently manages only the physical
\ntrading of coffee and natural rubber with deliveries of up to
