"summary": "The Indonesian Electric Motorcycle Industry Association (AISMOLI) emphasises that policy certainty is crucial for sustaining the growth of the national electric vehicle sector amid global energy crisis threats and fiscal pressures from fuel subsidies. With significant investments from global players like BYD and Mitsubishi, and the electric vehicle market share rising from 1.09% in 2022 to 12.93% in 2025, AISMOLI urges the government to issue transparent regulations to avoid market uncertainty, particularly for the over 150 million operating motorcycles in Indonesia. This transition is seen as vital not only for environmental reasons but also for fiscal strategy and energy resilience, given the Rp 322 trillion fuel subsidy burden in 2022.",
"content": "<p>JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - The Indonesian Electric Motorcycle Industry\nAssociation (AISMOLI) assesses that policy certainty is a crucial factor\nin maintaining the momentum of national electric vehicle growth. This is\nparticularly amid threats of a global energy crisis and fiscal pressures\ndue to fuel oil (BBM) subsidies. AISMOLI General Chairman Budi Setiyadi\nstated that the electric vehicle industry currently has readiness in\nterms of investment, production, and market, but requires aligned\nregulatory direction so that the ecosystem can continue to develop. That\nstatement was made in response to the emergence of several policy\ninstruments, including Ministry of Home Affairs Regulation Number 11 of\n2026 and Circular Letter of the Minister of Home Affairs Number\n900.1.13.1\/3764\/SJ, which according to the association raise questions\nfrom consumers, business actors, to investors regarding the direction of\nelectric vehicle policy. AISMOLI hopes that the government will be\ncautious in issuing new regulations and strengthen transparent policy\ncommunication to avoid creating uncertainty in the market. AISMOLI notes\nthat Indonesia\u2019s electric vehicle ecosystem has shown significant\ndevelopment in recent years, supported by government incentive policies.\nThose investments come from several global investors, including BYD,\nChery Automobile, Mitsubishi Motors, XPENG, and GAC AION. At the same\ntime, the electric vehicle market share increased from 1.09 percent in\n2022 to 12.93 percent in 2025. In the two-wheeler segment, the\nassociation assesses that the transition to electric vehicles is\nimportant because Indonesia has more than 150 million operating\nmotorcycles. AISMOLI views the acceleration of two-wheeler electric\nvehicle adoption not only as an environmental policy but also related to\nfiscal strategy and energy resilience. The urgency of the electric\nvehicle transition, according to AISMOLI, is also related to the large\nburden of BBM subsidies and compensation. Association data shows that\nnational BBM subsidies and compensation reached Rp 322 trillion in 2022,\nwith Pertalite as the main component.<\/p>",
