        "content": "<p>The Indonesian Attorney General\u2019s Office\u2019s Asset Recovery Agency\n(BPA) has, in its two years of operation, succeeded in recovering state\nlosses in line with targets set by the state. BPA head Kuntadi stated\nduring a press conference in Jakarta on Wednesday that the agency was\ngiven a target in 2024 to recover state losses through Non-Tax State\nRevenue (PNBP) amounting to Rp1.4 trillion, and it successfully\nrecovered Rp1.43 trillion. \u201cIn 2025, our target was Rp2.4 trillion, and\nwe managed to recover and deposit into the state treasury a total of\nRp19,654,408,850,955.00,\u201d Kuntadi said. The former Director of\nInvestigation for the Junior Attorney General for Special Crimes\nexplained that the high achievement was largely derived from the special\ncrimes division\u2019s efforts to seize proceeds from corruption offenders.\nFor 2026, the BPA has been given a PNBP target of Rp3.2 trillion from\nasset recovery in corruption cases. As of June 2026, Rp1.7 trillion has\nalready been deposited into the state treasury. He noted that from this\nRp1.7 trillion, more than Rp20 billion was successfully recovered for\nlosses suffered by the public in cases outside special crimes. Kuntadi\nexpressed confidence that the BPA\u2019s 2026 performance target will be met,\nsupported by several policies adopted by the agency to accelerate the\nresolution of state-seized assets. Separately, Kuntadi revealed that the\nBPA manages 27,753 assets spread across Indonesia, with management\ncarried out by district and high prosecutor\u2019s offices under the BPA\u2019s\ncontrol. \u201cMeanwhile, 1,376 assets valued at Rp2 trillion are under the\nfull control of the BPA,\u201d he disclosed. To enhance effectiveness, the\nBPA has operationalised 64 storage facilities for seized objects across\n33 provinces, supplementing the evidence warehouses at high and district\nprosecutor\u2019s offices. Kuntadi added that the BPA was established to\ntrace, confiscate, and manage assets derived from criminal acts, as well\nas to recover such assets. The agency\u2019s formation responds to a paradigm\nshift in law enforcement, which is no longer solely oriented towards\npunishing perpetrators but has moved towards recovering losses suffered\nby victims of crime. \u201cThe victims of crime in this context can be the\npublic in cases of general crime such as fraud, forgery, and so on, but\nit can also be the state in cases of criminal acts that cause state\nfinancial losses,\u201d Kuntadi said.<\/p>",
