Assaulted student reports mayor<\/p>\n
JAKARTA: A student of the Indonesian Christian University
\n(UKI) in Cawang, East Jakarta, reported on Tuesday Mayor Kusnan
\nAbdul Hakim to the police over the eviction of street vendors
\naround the campus on May 17.<\/p>\n
Representing Victor Djami who was still being treated at UKI
\nHospital for a fractured skull, his mother Ariance Djami also
\nreported Kramat Jati Police chief Comr. Dedy Tertra and head of
\nthe municipality's public order agency Lukman Syahrul.<\/p>\n
The family reported the officials for assault and abuse of
\npower.<\/p>\n
\"He's still in a critical condition in the Intensive Care
\nUnit,\" said Ariance at the Jakarta Police Headquarters.<\/p>\n
Witnesses said that UKI students hurled stones at the officers
\nwho evicted the street vendors around the campus in Cawang. The
\nofficers were reported to have retaliated.<\/p>\n
According to the Djami family's lawyer Jhonson Panjaitan,
\njoint operations between the police and the public order officers
\noften ended in violence. \"This is not the first time that civil
