Prof KH Asrorun Ni'am Sholeh, Chairman of the Majelis Alumni of IPNU, has urged Nahdlatul Ulama to continually uphold unity amid various dynamics, emphasising its foundational role as outlined in the organisation's Qanun Asasi by KH Hasyim Asy'ari. Speaking at a Halal Bihalal event in Jakarta, he stressed returning to core principles to prevent divisions over religious or political differences and to foster brotherhood through silaturahim. This call is particularly significant for upcoming NU congresses, aiming to resolve conflicts peacefully and strengthen communal bonds within Indonesia's largest Islamic organisation.

Jakarta (ANTARA) - The General Chairman of the Majelis Alumni of the
Nahdlatul Ulama Student Association (IPNU), Prof KH Asrorun Ni’am
Sholeh, has reminded that Nahdlatul Ulama should always nurture unity in
facing the diverse dynamics at hand.

According to Ni’am, quoted in Jakarta on Monday, the commitment to
unity is one of the values that forms the solid foundation of the NU
organisation (jam’iyyah), as stated in the preamble of the Qanun Asasi
or the foundational ideological and constitutional document of Nahdlatul
Ulama, formulated by KH Hasyim Asy’ari.

“Therefore, we need to return to the Qanun Asasi as the basis for
organisation. The commitment moving forward must build awareness of
returning to the basic principles of the organisation, unity and
togetherness to optimise service,” he said.

He conveyed this in his speech at the Halal Bihalal event of the
Majelis Alumni of the Nahdlatul Ulama Student Association (MA IPNU),
held in Jakarta on Sunday (12/4) evening.

Furthermore, Ni’am reminded that the spirit of togetherness in NU
must continue to be nurtured so as not to be easily divided by
differences in orientation, whether religious or political. He then
stated that ideally, in line with the organisation’s basic values, there
is no room in NU for disputes and divisions.

“If NU officials and members fully understand the Qanun Asasi and use
it as a foundation, there will certainly be no conflicts leading to
prolonged divisions or syiqaq. This is where the importance of returning
to the Qanun Asasi lies,” he said.

In line with that, Ni’am reminded that if there are differing views
between one party and another, the other party must act as a mediator
for peace, not as a stove that heats things up.

“The upcoming NU Congress must become a path towards unity and
togetherness, by placing the existing norms in the Preamble of the Qanun
Asasi as the foundation,” he stated.

Furthermore, the Chairman of the MUI Fatwa Division also delivered a
profound message about the essence of silaturahim as the main glue of
brotherhood amid differences. He emphasised that Halal Bihalal is not
merely a ceremonial tradition, but a momentum to “bind hearts” in order
to maintain and strengthen relationships among fellow members.

He reminded of the importance of resolving conflicts wisely and not
straying from togetherness, as per the advice of elders that remains
relevant in daily life.

“Differences in choices, affiliations, or views are unavoidable.
However, by meeting and maintaining silaturahim, at the very least we
can build understanding, even if agreement is not immediately reached,”
he said.

He also emphasised that in organisational life, particularly within
the Nahdlatul Ulama environment, all elements must remain committed to
the basic principles inherited from the founders, as enshrined in the
Preamble of the Qanun Asasi, such as the commitment to unity and
brotherhood.
",
