        "content": "<p>The Ministry of Defence held an alert roll call for hundreds of Civil\nServant Reserve Component personnel this morning, Friday, 12 June 2026.\nThe alert roll call was conducted on the same day as a planned student\ndemonstration.<\/p>\n<p>The order for the alert roll call was contained in a letter issued by\nthe National Reserve Agency of the Ministry of Defence, numbered\nB\/752\/VI\/2026\/BACADNAS. The document, dated 11 June 2026, was signed by\nthe Secretary of the Ministry of Defence\u2019s National Reserve Agency, Air\nVice-Marshal Novlamirsyah.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe officials listed in the attachment are requested to order the\nmale Civil Servant Reserve Component personnel in their ministries to\ncarry out the Alert Roll Call,\u201d the document received by Tempo\nstated.<\/p>\n<p>According to the letter, the alert roll call was held at the Ministry\nof Defence on Friday, 12 June 2026, at 07.00 WIB. The attachment to the\ndocument included a list of the number of Reserve Component civil\nservant personnel directed to attend the alert roll call. A total of 500\npersonnel from 42 ministries of the Red and White Cabinet were\ndeployed.<\/p>\n<p>Tempo attempted to confirm and seek clarification from the Ministry\nof Defence through the Head of the Defence Information Bureau of the\nMinistry of Defence Secretariat General, Brigadier General Rico Ricardo\nSirait. However, as of the writing of this report, Rico had not provided\nany response.<\/p>\n<p>This afternoon, several student alliances from universities in\nJakarta and surrounding areas plan to stage protests. They have chosen\ndifferent demonstration points with largely similar demands, namely\nurging the government to fix Indonesia\u2019s deteriorating economic\nconditions.<\/p>\n<p>One confirmed demonstration plan is the \u2018Indonesia Bangkrut\u2019\n(Indonesia Bankrupt) Action spearheaded by the University of Indonesia\nStudent Executive Board. Several student executive boards from various\ncampuses and student movement organisations will join the action, which\nis being held in the Central Jakarta area.<\/p>\n<p>University of Indonesia Student Executive Board Chair Yatalathof\nMa\u2019shum Imawan said that all 15 UI faculty student executive boards\nwould participate. In addition, eight other campus student executive\nboards and movement organisations will take part.<\/p>\n<p>These include the IPB University Student Family Executive Board, the\nJakarta State Polytechnic Student Executive Board, the Pancasila\nUniversity Student Executive Board, the Gunadarma Student Executive\nBoard Alliance, the National Student Front Central Board, the UI\nNational Student Front, Pembebasan, and the UI Progressive Student\nUnion.<\/p>\n<p>The protest participants have decided on five demands to be conveyed,\nprimarily urging President Prabowo Subianto to halt the free nutritious\nmeal programme and the Red and White village cooperatives project.<\/p>\n<p>Furthermore, the students are demanding that Prabowo stop the waste\nof the state budget, lower the prices of basic necessities and fuel, and\nend militarism in civilian spaces. \u201cPrabowo must also stop evading\nresponsibility and admit the government\u2019s mistakes,\u201d Athof said in a\nstatement on Wednesday, 10 June 2026.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to UI students, students from Jakarta State University,\nunder the UNJ Melawan (UNJ Fights Back) Alliance, will hold a\ndemonstration on campus grounds this afternoon at 13.00 WIB. The long\nmarch route will start from Rawamangun Muka, pass the golf course, then\nturn right towards Pemuda.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo we will go against the traffic. The stopping point will be at the\nUNJ Pemuda gate,\u201d said Dimas Galih, Head of the Social and Political\nDepartment of the UNJ Faculty of Social Sciences and Law Student\nExecutive Board, on Thursday, 11 June 2026.<\/p>\n<p>Dimas said the action would be attended by the UNJ academic\ncommunity. Not only students, but UNJ Sociology lecturer Ubedilah Badrun\nwill also attend the action.<\/p>\n<p>The participants decided to bring ten demands to the government.\nThese include stabilising the rupiah exchange rate; lowering the prices\nof basic necessities and fuel; ensuring teacher welfare; allocating a\nfull 20 per cent of the state budget to education; halting the free\nnutritious meal programme and the Red and White village cooperatives;\nand demanding the military return to barracks.<\/p>\n<p>The alliance is also demanding that the government stop the\ncriminalisation of young people and release all political prisoners;\nhalt the state university legal entity scheme; realise free and\ndemocratic higher education; create an educational environment free from\nsexual violence; and stop national strategic projects that harm the\nenvironment.<\/p>",
