        "content": "<p>Asia's Q1 server sales up<\/p>\n<p>SINGAPORE: Computer server sales in the Asia Pacific increased 7<br>\npercent to US$ 1.12 billion in the first quarter from a year ago<br>\nbut the SARS outbreak could hit demand in the June quarter, an<br>\nindustry monitor said on Monday.<\/p>\n<p>Technology research house Gartner Inc. said regional economies<br>\nseverely affected by the Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS)<br>\nepidemic could see weaker demand in the second quarter.<\/p>\n<p>\"A number of key markets, including Singapore, Hong Kong,<br>\nTaiwan and China face challenging business conditions in the<br>\nsecond quarter of 2003,\" said Matthew Boon, regional vice<br>\npresident for hardware and systems research.<\/p>\n<p>\"Thus we should expect that the second quarter could negate<br>\nmuch of the first quarter gains.<\/p>\n<p>\"Many large organizations, particularly in the tourism,<br>\nhospitality and services industries are looking closely at<br>\ndelaying capital expenditure programs.\"<\/p>\n<p>Sales in Taiwan, now the SARS hotspot, rose 5.5 percent to<br>\n81.06 million shares. --AFP<\/p>",
