        "content": "<p>The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has announced a USD150 million loan\nto PT Link Net Tbk (Linknet) to enhance digital infrastructure in\nIndonesia and improve broadband quality.<\/p>\n<p>The financing will be used to strengthen Linknet\u2019s stability and\nfacilitate further investment in the fibre optic broadband market,\naligning with the company\u2019s strategic shift towards a\nbusiness-to-business model.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis important agreement strengthens ADB\u2019s role as a trusted partner\nin Indonesia\u2019s digital development agenda. By supporting the expansion\nof Linknet\u2019s digital infrastructure services, we aim to provide\ninclusive and equitable access and unlock this nation\u2019s digital economic\npotential, estimated to reach USD366 billion by 2030,\u201d said Bobur\nAlimov, ADB Country Director for Indonesia, on Tuesday, 10 March\n2026.<\/p>\n<p>The agreement will help communities and businesses access digital\ntools through Linknet\u2019s investment in expanding its national\nfibre-to-the-home (FTTH) network, which provides high-speed internet\ndirectly to homes using fibre optic cables. It will also support the\ndevelopment of an open access wholesale model to enhance broadband\nquality, productivity, and participation in the digital economy,\nparticularly for micro, small, and medium enterprises.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe agreement will also support the country\u2019s climate commitments\nthrough energy-efficient technology and upgraded network assets,\u201d he\nadded.<\/p>\n<p>Indonesia\u2019s fibre optic infrastructure remains underdeveloped. Since\n2015, Indonesia\u2019s mobile broadband industry has grown rapidly, but\nadoption, access, and pricing of fixed broadband products such as fibre\noptic networks remain lagging compared with neighbouring countries.<\/p>\n<p>To address this challenge, the government is developing sectoral\npolicies to simplify the licensing process and standardise cost\nstructures to encourage a competitive landscape for fibre optic\nbroadband operators.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are very enthusiastic about partnering with ADB on this important\nproject to enhance our capability in supporting Indonesia\u2019s digital\neconomy,\u201d said Linknet Chief Executive Officer Kanishka Gayan\nWickrama.<\/p>\n<p>According to him, the financial agreement will enable the company to\nprovide more efficient and faster services to its customers. \u201cThis will\nalso allow us to access long-term financing to align with our strategic\nand operational shifts,\u201d he added.<\/p>",
