Asia expects foreign capital<\/p>\n
SINGAPORE (DPA): Eighty percent of Asian chief executive
\nofficers believe the region's economic upswing will be sustained
\nonly with foreign capital inflows, a survey showed on Monday.<\/p>\n
The significant role of foreign infusions does not constitute
\na loss of control for East Asian nations, according to the
\nfindings unveiled at the World Economic Forum's summit in
\nSingapore.<\/p>\n
Some 77 percent of the CEOs perceive no sacrifice of
\nindependence to foreign investors, according to the annual survey
\nby PricewaterhouseCoopers.<\/p>\n
"Eighty-five percent of Asian CEOs are extremely or somewhat
\noptimistic about economic recovery," the study said.<\/p>\n
"Our CEO survey population does not equate capital with
\ncontrol," said the firm's CEO James Schiro.<\/p>\n
Of particular interest was "how this group confronts the
\ngrowing pressure for global standards of financial reporting,
\nespecially as the capital markets, rather than short term bank
\nloans, become the preferred solution for large Asian
\ncorporations," Schiro said.<\/p>",
