        "content": "<p>Asia coffee shipments unaffected by attack on Afghanistan <br>\nDow Jones<br>\nSingapore<\/p>\n<p>Asian coffee export shipments for the fourth quarter haven't <br>\nbeen hampered by the U.S.-led attack against targets in <br>\nAfghanistan, industry participants said Monday.<\/p>\n<p>Exporters from India, Vietnam and Indonesia said their <br>\nshipments will arrive as scheduled in Europe, Japan or U.S. ports <br>\nas the vessels carrying the coffee won't pass through the <br>\nconflict zone.<\/p>\n<p>\"Indian coffee is shipped out mostly through the Cochin or <br>\nChennai ports in the southern part of India. These ports are far <br>\nfrom Afghanistan,\" said Hameed Huq, vice president for operations <br>\nof Tata Coffee Ltd. - one of India's biggest coffee exporters.<\/p>\n<p>\"We haven't heard of any delays,\" said one official at a major <br>\ntrading house in Ho Chi Minh city.<\/p>\n<p>Some Mediterranean ports are reportedly charging a war <br>\nsurcharge for incoming shipments, he added. But he said any such <br>\nsurcharge isn't collected in most European ports or in other <br>\nports around the world.<\/p>\n<p>Nuril Hakim, vice chairman of Indonesia Coffee Exporters <br>\nAssociation, said Indonesia's coffee shipments to Japan, South <br>\nKorea and Europe are on schedule.<\/p>\n<p>\"The Indonesian exporters' problem now is the low world prices <br>\nand big production from Vietnam and Brazil,\" Nuril said, adding <br>\nthat the conflict between the U.S. and Afghanistan isn't a main <br>\nconcern for the association at the moment.<\/p>",
