LamiPak, together with Frisian Flag Indonesia, inaugurated the\nAseptic Paper Carton Packaging Waste Management Programme in Serang\nRegency, Banten, yesterday, as an effort to promote responsible\npost-consumption packaging management within the implementation of the\nFree Nutritious Meal (MBG) Programme. The launch was attended by Serang\nRegency Regional Secretary Zaldi Dhuhana, the Ministry of Industry\u2019s\nDirector of Beverage, Tobacco Products, and Refreshing Materials\nMerrijantij Punguan Pintaria, IPRO Chairman Reza Andreanto, as well as\nrepresentatives from Serang Regency regional apparatus, industry\nassociations, dairy cooperatives, educational institutions, and the\nmanagement of PT Lami Packaging (LamiPak) Indonesia and PT Frisian Flag\nIndonesia.<\/p>\n
This programme represents a collaboration between LamiPak Indonesia\nas a producer of aseptic packaging and Frisian Flag Indonesia as a milk\nproducer utilising that packaging. Through this initiative, both\ncompanies seek to take an active role in supporting sustainable\npost-consumption packaging management. As the MBG Programme distributes\nmilk in aseptic carton packaging to students, a proper collection and\nmanagement system is required so that post-consumption packaging can be\nhandled responsibly. This programme serves as a concrete step to address\nthat need. A total of 20 schools, spanning elementary to senior high and\nvocational levels in Cikande District, are participating. Through a\nschool-based approach, students are encouraged to adopt the habit of\nsorting and collecting post-consumption packaging as part of early\nenvironmental education.<\/p>\n
PT Lami Packaging Indonesia Managing Director Hongbiao Li stated that\ncollaboration is key to building a sustainable packaging management\nsystem. \u201cThis programme embodies our commitment to contributing to\nsolutions that not only support the current needs of society but also\nsafeguard environmental sustainability for future generations,\u201d said\nHongbiao Li. PT Frisian Flag Indonesia Corporate Affairs Director Andrew\nSaputro emphasised the importance of multi-stakeholder involvement in\nraising awareness of post-consumption packaging management. \u201cThrough\nthis collaboration, we hope students not only gain nutritional benefits\nfrom the MBG Programme but also understand the importance of responsible\npackaging management as part of a sustainable lifestyle,\u201d said Andrew\nSaputro.<\/p>\n
The Ministry of Industry\u2019s Director of Beverage, Tobacco Products,\nand Refreshing Materials, Merrijantij Punguan Pintaria, commended the\ncollaborative initiative undertaken by LamiPak and Frisian Flag\nIndonesia in supporting post-consumption packaging management through an\neducation-based approach. She noted that the programme not only helps\nbuild environmental awareness among the younger generation but also\nserves as a tangible example of applying circular economy principles\ninvolving various stakeholders. She welcomed the programme\u2019s\nimplementation as it integrates environmental education with responsible\npost-consumption packaging management. Through the involvement of\nschools and students, the programme can cultivate the habit of sorting\nand collecting waste from an early age, while supporting the development\nof a circular economy ecosystem in Indonesia. \u201cCollaboration between\nindustry, government, educational institutions, and recycling partners\nlike this is an important step in creating a more sustainable waste\nmanagement system,\u201d said Merrijantij.<\/p>\n
Packaging collected from participating schools will subsequently be\nmanaged through collaboration with collection and recycling partners to\nsupport material reuse and promote a circular economy. IPRO Chairman\nReza Andreanto stressed the importance of building an integrated\ncollection system so that sorted post-consumption packaging can retain\nits economic value until it enters the recycling chain. \u201cTransportation\nremains one of the challenges that requires attention. Therefore,\ninfrastructure is needed that can ensure sorted materials maintain their\nquality until they reach the recycling sector. In addition to education\non sorting, the transportation aspect is also a crucial part of building\na sustainable system,\u201d said Reza.<\/p>\n
In his remarks, Serang Regency Regional Secretary Zaldi Dhuhana\nexpressed his support for the programme. He urged the Serang Regency\nEducation Office to issue a circular encouraging the collection and\nmanagement of milk packaging waste from the MBG Programme within school\nenvironments. This step is expected to strengthen awareness and\nparticipation across all educational units in supporting sustainable\nenvironmental management. In addition to the programme inauguration\nceremony, the event featured nutritional education in conjunction with\nWorld Milk Day, a symbolic \u201cMilk Toss\u201d with invited guests, and a\ndemonstration of the aseptic carton packaging collection mechanism to be\nimplemented in participating schools.
