        "content": "<p>ASEAN tries to resolve row<\/p>\n<p>SINGAPORE (AFP): ASEAN called on Thursday for the resumption<br>\nof high-level talks with the European Union to salvage a foreign<br>\nministers' meeting hit by a dispute over Myanmar's participation.<\/p>\n<p>The Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) said the<br>\nconvening of the ASEAN-EU Joint Cooperation Committee (JCC)<br>\nmeeting, prior to the foreign ministers' meeting scheduled in<br>\nBerlin later this month, could help the two regional groupings<br>\nreach a compromise.<\/p>\n<p>Saroj Chavanaviraj, permanent secretary of Thailand's ministry<br>\nof foreign affairs, was speaking to reporters on the sidelines of<br>\na senior officials' meeting between ASEAN and India held here.<br>\nThailand is the country coordinator of the present ASEAN-EU<br>\ndialog.<\/p>\n<p>Several EU states have vowed to boycott the meeting if army-<br>\nruled Myanmar, widely criticized for alleged human rights abuses,<br>\nis represented at the foreign ministers' meeting.<\/p>",
