ASEAN exhibition opens<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): Director General of Metal, Machinery and
\nElectronic Industries Effendi Sudarsono opened yesterday a four-
\nday ASEAN exhibition of pumps, piping, filtration, water and
\nwaste water treatment, and turbo-machinery.<\/p>\n
The exhibition, held biennially by members of the Association
\nof Southeast Asian Nations, displays products of more than 200
\ninternational manufacturers, distributors and retailers from 22
\ncountries including Australia, South Korea, Taiwan, France,
\nGermany, Italy, Britain and the United States.<\/p>\n
Dilys Yong, president of HQ Link Pte Ltd., the show organizer,
\nsaid that the show in Indonesia is very timely because the
\ncountry has recorded phenomenal growth in investment and human
\nresource development.<\/p>\n
She quoted Minister Tunky Ariwibowo as saying that out of the
\nRp 660 trillion (US$266.4 billion) of investment needed by
\nIndonesia for its development programs during the current Sixth
\nFive Year Development Plan (Repelita VI) period, beginning in
\n1994, about Rp 75.9 trillion will be allocated for industrial
