        "content": "<p>ASEAN foreign ministers have approved the granting of Sectoral\nDialogue Partner status to Germany and Qatar, while also accepting\nTurkiye as the bloc\u2019s 12th Dialogue Partner during the 59th ASEAN\nMinisterial Meeting (AMM). The Chair of the AMM, Philippine Foreign\nMinister Ma. Theresa Lazaro, stated that the decision reflects increased\nconfidence from international partners in ASEAN and a desire for deeper\nengagement with the international community. \u201cThese developments\ndemonstrate the continued trust of our partners in ASEAN. We also view\nthis as a positive step towards realising the aspirations of the ASEAN\nCommunity Vision 2045,\u201d Lazaro said. According to Lazaro, Germany was\ngranted Sectoral Dialogue Partner status in recognition of its\nlong-standing support for ASEAN and its commitment to strengthening the\ndevelopment of the ASEAN Community. Qatar was granted the same status\ndue to its growing cooperation with ASEAN in areas such as diplomacy,\ndevelopment, humanitarian assistance, education, and connectivity, as\nwell as its accession to the Treaty of Amity and Cooperation in\nSoutheast Asia (TAC). During the plenary session, the foreign ministers\nalso expressed full support for the 50th anniversary of the TAC on 24\nJuly. On that occasion, Poland, Romania, Sweden, and Lithuania are\nscheduled to formally accede to the treaty. The meeting also saw the\nadoption of an ASEAN Foreign Ministers\u2019 Statement on developments in the\nMiddle East and the Guidelines for the ASEAN Mechanism of Engagement\nwith Parties to the TAC. Lazaro noted that the statement on the Middle\nEast was agreed upon following escalating conflict in the region,\nparticularly between the United States and Iran. She added that the\nstatement, proposed by the Philippines as ASEAN Chair, aims to\nstrengthen the bloc\u2019s common position in maintaining regional peace and\nstability. The engagement guidelines provide a new framework for\npractical cooperation between ASEAN and TAC signatory states, expected\nto support regional development, economic growth, and the strengthening\nof political, economic, and socio-cultural ties. The 59th AMM series\nwill continue this week with meetings between ASEAN and its dialogue\npartners, the ASEAN Plus Three, the ASEAN Regional Forum, the East Asia\nSummit, and the commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the TAC.<\/p>",
