        "content": "<p>ASEAN airlines set discount<\/p>\n<p>MANILA (AFP): Eight Southeast Asian airlines are teaming up to<br>\noffer heavily discounted fares to at least three destinations in<br>\nthe region, Philippine Airlines (PAL) said Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>The Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) \"Air Pass\"<br>\nsystem is intended to boost travel and tourism within the region,<br>\nthe flag-carrier said in a statement.<\/p>\n<p>PAL said it was joining Royal Brunei Airlines, Malaysia<br>\nAirlines, Singapore Airlines, Thai Airways International, Vietnam<br>\nAirlines, Garuda of Indonesia and Silk Air of Singapore in the<br>\nscheme.<\/p>\n<p>The pass will allow travelers from outside ASEAN to purchase<br>\nflights from three to six ASEAN destinations at heavily<br>\ndiscounted rates, provided that these routes are serviced by the<br>\nairlines.<\/p>\n<p>Surface travel between destinations is allowed at the<br>\npassenger's expense but a passenger must begin his travel outside<br>\nof ASEAN and must fly into the region on one of the participating<br>\nairlines, PAL said in a statement.<\/p>",
