        "content": "<p>Singapore (ANTARA) - The ASEAN+3 Macroeconomic Research Office (AMRO)\nstated on Thursday that the ASEAN+3 economies\u2014comprising ASEAN member\nstates plus China, Japan, and South Korea\u2014must accelerate efforts to\nintegrate artificial intelligence (AI), energy infrastructure, and\ndigital payment systems to avoid increased dependence on the US dollar\nas AI transforms global trade. According to comments from AMRO\neconomists, commercial decisions by AI companies, cloud service\nproviders, and payment networks have created a new monetary ecosystem\ncentred on the US currency. \u201cWhile ASEAN+3 cannot prevent the formation\nof a self-sustaining dollar reinforcement loop, they can limit their\ndependence on it,\u201d AMRO stated. The commentary noted that regional\neconomies should pursue a coordinated strategy that combines energy, AI,\nand payments to strengthen digital competitiveness while simultaneously\nreducing reliance on US dollar-based financial infrastructure. AMRO\nsuggested expanding regional data centre capacity, supported by\naffordable and increasingly clean energy sources, to enhance local\naccess to computing power. Furthermore, it recommended developing local\ncurrency-based tokenised payment systems capable of supporting trade\ninvolving AI agents. Such measures would assist businesses in\nparticipating in the digital economy without becoming increasingly\ndependent on dollar-dominated payment networks, while allowing\nregulators to maintain oversight of financial transactions, according to\nAMRO.<\/p>",
