Jakarta (ANTARA) - PT ASDP Indonesia Ferry (Persero) has begun\noperating KMP Portlink III to strengthen services on the Merak\u2013Bakauheni\ncrossing and maintain connectivity between Java and Sumatra. The vessel\nforms part of the company\u2019s strategic fleet readiness efforts,\nsupporting public mobility and logistics.<\/p>\n
ASDP President Director Heru Widodo said the vessel\u2019s arrival was\npart of the company\u2019s efforts to strengthen fleet readiness on one of\nthe country\u2019s strategic ferry routes, which plays an important role in\nconnecting Java and Sumatra.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe operation of KMP Portlink III is part of our efforts to\nstrengthen fleet readiness and maintain the continuity of ferry\nservices,\u201d Heru said in a confirmed statement in Jakarta on Tuesday.<\/p>\n
ASDP is continuing to strengthen services on the Merak\u2013Bakauheni\nroute through the operation of KMP Portlink III, which began serving\npassengers on Sunday (25 October).<\/p>\n
Heru said the vessel\u2019s operation was part of the company\u2019s efforts to\nensure ferry services were ready, particularly on the strategic route\nlinking the islands of Java and Sumatra.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe hope the vessel\u2019s presence will help ensure smooth journeys for\npassengers while supporting the movement of logistics, which is an\nimportant part of the public\u2019s economic activity,\u201d Heru said.<\/p>\n
KMP Portlink III is scheduled to serve the Merak\u2013Bakauheni route\nevery day. Before entering service, it departed from Paciran on Thursday\n(22 October) at 16:50 Western Indonesian Time as part of preparations\nfor its operation.<\/p>\n
ASDP said it would ensure that the vessel\u2019s operation complied with\napplicable safety requirements and operational regulations.<\/p>\n
Coordination with relevant stakeholders is also continuing to support\nservice readiness, so that the vessel can operate in accordance with\nregulations and on-the-ground service needs.<\/p>\n
Heru emphasised that strengthening ferry services involved not only\nfleet readiness but also consistent application of safety and service\nstandards for passengers.<\/p>\n
He said safety remained the priority in all operational activities.\nThe ferry operator continues to conduct evaluations and coordinate to\nensure fleet readiness goes hand in hand with service quality.<\/p>\n
