PT ASDP Indonesia Ferry (Persero) is increasing vessel capacity and adjusting operational patterns to alleviate vehicle congestion at the Ketapang-Gilimanuk ferry crossing. The company is deploying 27 ships to manage the queues, which recently reached 8.5 kilometres on the Ketapang side.

PT ASDP Indonesia Ferry (Persero) continues to strengthen transport
capacity and adjust vessel operational patterns to accelerate the
dispersal of vehicle queues at the Ketapang Port (Banyuwangi) -
Gilimanuk Port (Bali) crossing, while maintaining a primary focus on
safety.

The Director of PT ASDP Indonesia Ferry (Persero), Heru Widodo,
expressed apologies to all service users for the inconvenience and
waiting times experienced during the service recovery process.

“We understand that the queues and waiting times have a direct impact
on public travel and logistics distribution. Our current focus is to
accelerate the dispersal of queues in a measurable manner by optimising
all available capacity without compromising safety aspects,” said Heru
Widodo in a statement received in Banyuwangi on Tuesday.

He noted that field conditions are being continuously monitored as a
basis for adjusting operational patterns. Vessel capacity, load
distribution, and travel patterns are being dynamically regulated
according to the queue conditions on both sides of the crossing.

As conditions on one side of the Ketapang-Gilimanuk route become more
controlled, Heru continued, available capacity can be optimised to
accelerate vehicle movement on the side still experiencing queues.

“We are continuously evaluating all these steps to ensure that
recovery proceeds effectively until conditions return to stability,” he
said.

According to Heru, as of Tuesday (29/9) at 06:00 WIB, the length of
the vehicle queue on the Ketapang Port side was recorded at
approximately 8.5 kilometres, with the tail of the queue located around
Sangkong Beach and Parasputih. The waiting time was approximately 34
minutes, with the queue dominated by logistics vehicles, while no queues
were reported on the Gilimanuk side.

To accelerate the dispersal of queues, he stated that 27 ships are
being operated on the Ketapang-Gilimanuk route, with strengthened travel
patterns of up to 8 trips. The fleet consists of 14 regular ships
serving via MB Pier and nine regular ships via LCM Pier.

“Additionally, there are four Tanjung Balai (TBB) assistance ships
strengthening the service, consisting of one ship at MB Pier and three
ships at LCM Pier,” said Heru Widodo.
",
