        "content": "<p>Members of the Sumbawa Island Province Alliance (PPS) are planning a\nlarge-scale protest on 2 June 2026, demanding the creation of a new\nprovince for Sumbawa Island separate from West Nusa Tenggara (NTB). The\nprotests are set to take place simultaneously across five regencies and\ncities on Sumbawa Island: West Sumbawa, Sumbawa, Dompu, Bima, and Bima\nCity, with threats to shut down Poto Tano Port in West Sumbawa\nRegency.<\/p>\n<p>General Manager (GM) of PT ASDP Indonesia Ferry\u2019s Kayangan Branch,\nErlisetya Wahyudi, confirmed ferry services between Ketapang in East\nLombok and Poto Tano in West Sumbawa Regency (KSB), and vice versa, will\nremain operational. \u201cASDP will not close the port. Services for\npassengers will continue and vessel operations will remain normal 24\nhours a day,\u201d Erlisetya told detikBali on Sunday (31 May 2026).<\/p>\n<p>However, Erlisetya added that ferry services on 2 June will adjust to\non-ground conditions. Operational adjustments will be made to ensure\nservice smoothness, safety, and security for passengers and the public.\n\u201cWe will adjust and coordinate with relevant port stakeholders according\nto actual conditions on the ground,\u201d he said. \u201cWe are also monitoring\nPoto Tano. The port will definitely remain open, and operations will\ncontinue outside the port area,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>Thousands of PPS alliance members had previously planned the protest\non 2 June, demanding the cancellation of the moratorium on new\nautonomous regions (DOB) and the establishment of Sumbawa as a new\nprovince.<\/p>\n<p>Abdussyahir, chair of the PPS alliance in Bima City and commonly\nknown as Ogie, said protests in West Sumbawa will centre at Poto Tano\nPort, while in Sumbawa Regency they will focus at the airport ring road\njunction. In Dompu, demonstrations will be held at the Banggo Manggelewa\nbranch.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn Bima Regency, the protest site will be at Talabiu branch and Uma\nMe\u2019e slope (junction in front of Bima Airport), while in Bima City it\nwill be at the Pertamina area,\u201d he explained.<\/p>\n<p>Ogie detailed several demands to be raised during the simultaneous\nprotests across Sumbawa\u2019s five regencies and cities, including urging\nthe central government, through the Ministry of Home Affairs\n(Kemendagri), to immediately revoke the DOB moratorium.<\/p>",
