PT ASDP Indonesia Ferry reports that 79 percent of Eid holiday returnees from Sumatra to Java have crossed back by H+6 after Lebaran 2026, with 713,702 passengers and 188,559 vehicles recorded out of totals of 898,864 and 239,920 respectively. The return flow remains controlled despite peak volumes, aided by even traffic distribution and measures like fleet optimisation, a single tariff policy, and rerouting of large logistics vehicles to alternative ports. These strategies ensure smooth operations and safety during the high-traffic period, with overall crossings showing modest year-on-year increases.

JAKARTA – PT ASDP Indonesia Ferry (Persero) recorded that 79 percent
of holidaymakers from Sumatra have returned to Java by H+6 after Lebaran
2026.

Data shows that 713,702 passengers have crossed from a total of
898,864 during the outbound flow. The number of vehicles returning
reached 188,559 units, or 79 percent of the total 239,920 units.

ASDP’s Director of Operations and Transformation, Rio Lasse, stated
that the return flow is proceeding in a controlled manner despite
entering the peak phase.

“The increasingly even distribution of traffic has been a key factor.
With this pattern, the crossing flow can still be managed optimally even
though the volume of movement is high,” said Rio in an official
statement on Monday (30/3/2026).

Data from the Bakauheni Post over 24 hours on 28 March 2026 recorded
111,589 passengers crossing from Sumatra to Java. This figure is down 11
percent from last year’s 125,406 people.

The number of vehicles recorded was 29,893 units, up 3.7 percent from
29,839 units in the same period last year.

Cumulatively for the H-10 to H+6 period, the total passengers from
Sumatra to Java reached 1.14 million people, up 2.5 percent from 1.12
million last year. The total vehicles reached 278,950 units, growing 5.9
percent from 263,481 units.

For the reverse direction, passengers from Java to Sumatra were
recorded at 1.2 million people, up 2.3 percent. The number of vehicles
reached 320,283 units, an increase of 6.8 percent from 299,824
units.

ASDP has implemented several measures to maintain smoothness. These
include optimising the ship fleet, the Arrive-Unload-Depart scheme, a
delaying system in the buffer zone, as well as tariff discounts and a
single tariff policy.

Large logistics vehicles in groups V B to IX are rerouted via Muara
Pilu Port to Bojonegara. Ticket sales for that category have also been
temporarily halted at Bakauheni during that period.

“We urge all logistics operators to comply with the regulations that
have been set during this Lebaran transport period,” said Rio.

“Compliance with the restriction policies is key to maintaining the
smoothness of the return flow and collective safety,” he added.
",
