Nvidia CEO and co-founder Jensen Huang has stated that the era of\nArtificial General Intelligence (AGI) has arrived. This assertion\nfollows OpenAI\u2019s launch of its latest AI model, GPT-6 Astra.<\/p>\n
OpenAI introduced GPT-6 Astra last Thursday. The company claims the\nmodel brings significant improvements to computer usage, programming,\nscientific research, and professional tasks.<\/p>\n
Astra was initially made available to corporate customers via\nDaybreak access. OpenAI has since expanded its availability to ChatGPT\nPlus, Pro, Business, and Enterprise users, as well as through the OpenAI\nAPI and Amazon Web Services.<\/p>\n
Huang welcomed the launch via a post on the X platform. The Nvidia\nchief noted that OpenAI\u2019s latest model marks the beginning of the AGI\nera.<\/p>\n

Generally, AGI refers to AI systems\npossessing human-equivalent cognitive abilities in learning and\nreasoning, capable of acquiring new skills and abilities without\nrequiring retraining.<\/p>\n OpenAI defines AGI as an autonomous system that outperforms humans in\nmost economically valuable tasks.<\/p>\n Meanwhile, Huang and Nvidia utilise a different benchmark. They\ndefine AGI as an AI system capable of passing professional\ncertifications and standardised tests across various professional fields\nwith top-tier scores.<\/p>\n OpenAI President Greg Brockman previously described GPT-6 Astra as a\npivotal moment in the journey towards AGI. Ahead of the Astra launch,\nBrockman stated it was reasonable for the public to feel that the AGI\nera has commenced.<\/p>\n \u201cI do not think it is an exaggeration to feel that we are now in the\nera of AGI,\u201d Brockman said, as quoted by Fox Business.<\/p>\n OpenAI stated that Astra is capable of performing various\ncomputer-based tasks previously considered tedious, such as filling out\nonline forms, updating customer data, managing calendars, and conducting\nresearch.<\/p>\n The model can also generate documents, spreadsheets, and\npresentations. OpenAI even referred to Astra as the \u201cbest model for\nsoftware engineering to date,\u201d while highlighting its cyber security\ncapabilities.<\/p>\n OpenAI CEO Sam Altman also revealed one of Astra\u2019s most impressive\ncapabilities. According to him, the model does not merely execute\ncommands but is also capable of identifying problems that users have not\nyet considered.<\/p>\n \u201cIt is not only capable of conducting extensive research on, for\nexample, the complex chip supply chain we are trying to produce. But as\npart of that task, which I did not ask for, it can come back and say,\n\u2018You haven\u2019t thought to ask me about another part of this supply\nchain,\u2019\u201d said Altman.<\/p>",
