        "content": "<p>Articles on 'no-voting' questioned<\/p>\n<p>JAKARTA: Analysts and politicians rejected on Thursday the<br>\ninclusion of articles on criminalizing campaigners not exercising<br>\nvoting rights, in the election bill currently being debated by<br>\nthe House.<\/p>\n<p>Syamsuddin Haris of the Indonesian Institute of Sciences<br>\n(LIPI) and Tomi Legowo of the Center for Strategic and<br>\nInternational Studies (CSIS) called for a clear definition of<br>\ncampaigners.<\/p>\n<p>\"Since this law will be applicable to all people, there must<br>\nbe a clearer definition,\" Tomi said here on Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>Both Tomi and Syamsuddin emphasized that not attending a<br>\ngeneral election was within everyone's rights.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, chairman of the Indonesian United Democracy Party<br>\n(PUDI) Sri Bintang Pamungkas said the inclusion of these articles<br>\nindicated that the current regime was more authoritarian than<br>\nformer dictator Soeharto.<\/p>\n<p>The articles carry a maximum penalty of one year in jail or a<br>\nRp 10 million fine. -- JP<\/p>",
