Army members face assault charges<\/p>\n
PEMALANG, Central Java: Eleven personnel of an Army battalion
\nin Tegal will face questioning for allegedly assaulting a
\nrestaurateur here, Central Java military commander Maj. Gen.
\nBibit Waluyo said on Wednesday.<\/p>\n
Bibit said the Tuesday midnight attack was triggered by a joke
\nmade by a relative of the restaurateur.<\/p>\n
On the night, deputy commander of the battalion Capt. Imam
\nRahmat Hidayat and soldiers, who were in plainclothes, dropped by
\nto the restaurant owned by Suwardi Tirus. A relative of the
\nowner told Imam his car's tires were bigger than normal.<\/p>\n
Imam was reportedly offended and ordered the attack as soon as
\nhe returned home. The restaurant was damaged and the joker was
\nbeaten.<\/p>\n
\"If they are found guilty, they will be punished,\" Bibit told
\nAntara.<\/p>\n
Bibit blamed both his troops and Suwardi's relative for the
\nassault, saying the incident could have been avoided had they
\ncontrolled themselves.<\/p>",
