Armed robbery in Cikini<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): Two armed men robbed yesterday Ibukota a gold
\nand jewelry shop on Jl. Cikini Raya, Menteng, Central Jakarta,
\nand made off with three gold bracelets, weighing 180 grams.<\/p>\n
A shop employee, Siska, told the police two unidentified men
\nentered the shop saying they wanted gold bracelets.<\/p>\n
The Central Jakarta Police Precinct chief, Lt. Col. Ibrahim
\nsaid while Siska was showing them the bracelets, one of the
\nrobbers pointed a gun at her and threatened to kill her if she
\ntried to resist.<\/p>\n
\"They ordered Siska upstairs, stole three gold bracelets and
\nescaped,\" said Ibrahim.<\/p>\n
Siska told the police that before she went upstairs, she
\nsignaled she was being robbed to a roadside vendor in front of
\nher shop.<\/p>\n
The vendor, identified as Purnan, then told a security guard
\nwho reported the robbery to the Menteng police station, some 200
\nmeters away.<\/p>\n
Police officers, backed up by members of the local military,
\nbesieged the shop, adjacent to the BCA bank branch office.<\/p>\n
\"The officers believed the robbers were holding Siska in the
\nshop,\" Ibrahim said.<\/p>\n
The \"drama\" interested passersby and local residents who
\nflocked to the area causing traffic jams.<\/p>\n
\"The officers did not find anyone in the shop. The robbers had
\ngone and Siska had escaped through the BCA office,\" Ibrahim said.
\nSiska injured her legs in the incident and is being treated at
\nthe Cipto Mangunkusumo General Hospital.<\/p>\n
\"The gun used by the robbers could be fake as Siska said it
\nwas gray,\" Ibrahim said. He said he wondered why the robbers did
