Apprenticeship in Japan<\/p>\n
BANJARMASIN, South Kalimantan: Eight members of the
\ngovernment-backed youth organization Karang Taruna will join an
\napprenticeship program in Japan for three years.<\/p>\n
"It is the first apprenticeship program for Karang Taruna, so
\nwe must take the chance," the chairman of the South Kalimantan
\nKarang Taruna Communication Forum, Yuherli, told Antara Monday.<\/p>\n
The apprenticeship program was the realization of an
\nintergovernmental agreement between Indonesian and Japan, Yuherli
\nsaid.<\/p>\n
The first stage of the program will include 200 youths from 17
\nprovinces, including eight youths from South Kalimantan.<\/p>\n
"Before heading for Japan, the youths will join a three-month
\ncourse on Japanese culture and language in Bekasi, West Java,"
\nYuherli said, adding that the eight were selected from 18 Karang
\nTaruna members.<\/p>\n
The apprentices are Andriansyah, Syaifudin, Budiono, Yudi
\nWinarno, Rianto, Wahyu, Slamet Poewarto and Serta M Budi Santoso.<\/p>\n
"They will be working for various companies and receive a
\nmonthly salary of Rp 2 million," Yuherli said.<\/p>\n
Without naming the companies, Yuherli said the apprentices
\nwould receive certificates and working capital from the Japanese
