Apple has officially introduced the latest version of its virtual\nassistant, Siri, which is now powered by artificial intelligence (AI).\nThe announcement was made during the Worldwide Developers Conference\n(WWDC) 2026.<\/p>\n
According to reports, the virtual assistant, now referred to as Siri\nAI, is scheduled to be available in beta version by the end of this\nyear. With this update, Apple is transitioning Siri from a\nvoice-command-based assistant into an AI-based digital companion capable\nof engaging in two-way conversations with users.<\/p>\n
Siri AI will be accompanied by a dedicated Siri application and will\nbe able to utilise up-to-date knowledge from various sources to answer\nuser queries. Furthermore, the virtual assistant can access information\nstored on the device and provide responses based on the content\ncurrently displayed on the screen. When users request information, Siri\nAI will display results in the form of text cards containing information\nfrom the internet as well as data from messages and other applications\non the device.<\/p>\n
Users can access Siri by swiping down on the Dynamic Island to\nperform searches or initiate text-based conversations. In addition to\nusing the \u201cHey Siri\u201d voice command, users can also activate the virtual\nassistant via the device\u2019s side button.<\/p>\n
Apple also introduced the \u201cWrite with Siri\u201d feature, which assists\nusers in drafting messages or emails. This feature can adjust the\nwriting style based on the user\u2019s communication habits with specific\ncontacts. For example, if a user typically sends brief messages to a\nsupervisor, Siri will adapt its writing style to match the communication\nstyle used in previous emails to that person.<\/p>\n
Apple stated that Siri AI is capable of performing more complex\ntasks, such as composing messages based on specific topics by utilising\ninformation from the internet, previous emails, calendars, contact\nlists, and other data available on the device. To enhance\npersonalisation, users can adjust the speed and vocal expression of Siri\nAI according to their individual preferences.<\/p>\n
Apple has also improved dictation features across the operating\nsystem, providing higher accuracy in recognising spelling, punctuation,\nand capitalisation. On Mac devices, Apple is integrating Siri into the\nSpotlight feature, allowing users to access the virtual assistant from\nvarious parts of the system. Meanwhile, on watchOS, users can ask\nquestions and perform various actions directly through the Apple\nWatch.<\/p>\n
Through this update, Apple is positioning Siri to compete with other\nAI services such as ChatGPT, Claude, and Gemini.
