        "content": "<p>Apple and pear seasons<\/p>\n<p>JAKARTA (JP): Australian fruit exporters are here to promote<br>\nthe 1996 Australian apple and pear seasons which will start in<br>\nthree weeks.<\/p>\n<p>A preseason launching dinner was held on Thursday at the Grand<br>\nHyatt by the Australian Apple and Pear Growers Association,<br>\nAustralian Horticultural Corporation and Australian Horticultural<br>\nExporters Association. Some 100 Indonesian fruit importers and<br>\nwholesalers were invited to the dinner.<\/p>\n<p>Brian Hall, marketing manager for the Australian Horticultural<br>\nCorporation, said his country expected to export at least 4,087<br>\ntons of apples and pears.<\/p>\n<p>An Indonesian retailer asking for anonymity told The Jakarta<br>\nPost that it sometimes took up to four weeks for fruit imports<br>\nfrom southern Australia to reach Jakarta.<\/p>\n<p>Australian fruit importers, however, see Indonesia as a large<br>\nand rapidly growing market.<\/p>\n<p>Tim Reid, president of Tasfresh International Pty. Ltd,<br>\nbelieved that Indonesians have a better understanding of good<br>\nnutritional values and have healthier eating habits compared to<br>\nAustralians who prefer to eat red meat. (14)<\/p>",
