        "content": "<p>Jakarta (ANTARA) - Chairman of the Indonesian Shopping Centre\nManagement Association (APPBI) Alphonzus Widjaja has revealed the\npotential for price increases in shopping centres starting in the fourth\nquarter of 2026, around October. He said the price hikes would be\ntriggered by retailers replenishing stock with goods produced at higher\ncosts, driven by increases in logistics, energy, and raw material\nexpenses, as well as the weakening rupiah exchange rate affecting\nimported goods. \u201cThese large quantities of stock will be produced from\nraw materials whose prices have already risen. Energy costs are up now,\nlogistics costs are up, raw material prices are up,\u201d Alphonzus said when\nmet at the Ministry of Trade office in Jakarta on Thursday. He noted\nthat price increases could occur across almost all product categories\nbecause the rise in logistics and energy costs affects the entire supply\nchain, for both domestically produced and imported goods. Nevertheless,\nAlphonzus stressed that raising prices is not the primary option for\nbusinesses. APPBI is urging the government to take immediate steps to\nreduce production, logistics, and energy costs, as well as raw material\nprices, so that any price increases can be minimised or avoided. \u201cSo, we\nactually still hope there will be no increase in raw material,\nlogistics, and energy costs. We really hope the government can address\nthis situation before the fourth quarter of 2026,\u201d Alphonzus said. He\nadded that businesses have prepared several strategies to maintain\npublic purchasing power. These measures include using more efficient\nalternative raw materials, offering products in smaller packaging to\nkeep prices affordable, and increasing promotional programmes and\ndiscounts. Furthermore, APPBI recommends that the government focus its\npolicies more on strengthening the domestic economy. According to\nAlphonzus, household consumption, which contributes around 57 percent to\nnational economic growth, must be maintained through the creation of a\nconducive business climate and increased public confidence in the\neconomic situation. \u201cI think what needs to be done is for the government\nto be more focused, particularly on addressing various domestic\npressures. Because I believe priority must still be given to domestic\nmatters,\u201d he added.<\/p>",
