Aplikanusa installs new communication system<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): PT Aplikanusa Lintasarta has spent about Rp 30
\nbillion on its new data communication network, the business-
\ndivision general manager said yesterday.<\/p>\n
Arya Damar said Lintasarta had installed a Frame Relay data
\nnetwork in 17 cities.<\/p>\n
He said the Frame Relay network would back up its data
\ncommunication services.<\/p>\n
Lintasarta provides network applications for bank's reporting
\nsystems, credit card authorizations, shared automated teller
\nmachines and Internet services. It also provides data
\ncommunications for digital data networks and Very Small Aperture
\nTerminals.<\/p>\n
\"Next year, we are going to expand our service to another 17
\ncities,\" Lintasarta director for development Wityasmoro Sih told
\nthe company's seminar on Frame Relay yesterday.<\/p>\n
Frame Relay is a high-speed inter-networking system used for
\nLAN and IBM host-system interconnections through point-to-point
\nor point-to-multipoint linkages, Arya said.<\/p>\n
\"It provides users with high-speed access rates from 64 Kbps
\n(kilobytes per second) to 2 Mbps,\" he said.<\/p>\n
Arya said an institution with more than three branches could
\nuse the system to save about 40 percent of its monthly
\ncommunication costs.<\/p>\n
He said Frame Relay was developed to tailor customer-specific
\nrequirements for most fields, with banks being major users.<\/p>\n
Lintasarta, founded in 1988, is 25 percent owned by PT Telkom
\nand 18.8 percent by PT Indosat (both are state-owned
\ntelecommunications operators), 7.5 percent by PT Telekomindo, 45
\npercent by banking staff foundations and 3.7 percent by
